But since you excel in everything--in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in the love we have kindled in you--see that you also excel in the grace of giving.” 2 Corinthians 8:7

Following Gods call does not come without certain sacrifices. Retired ministers, missionaries and their widowed spouses often have limited options to adequately plan for the future. Medical prob- lems, relocating or the death of a spouse can also cause these leaders to find themselves far from the church family that once supported them.

RMMO provides financial support for retired ministers, missionaries and widowed spouses who have helped build our churches. The assistance provided by RMMO restores that lifeline and ongoing connection to the ABC family. Like anyone else, retired ministers and missionaries experience anxi- ety and worry when unforeseen expenses arise. RMMO exists to alleviate the stress and hardship of unexpected expenses.

This offering will be received during the month of February; envelopes are included with this Oak Leaves and can be found in the pew racks.

We are excited about the response we received to this invitation to serve as part of Rebuilding, Restoring, Renewing Puerto Rico, a multi-year initiative launched by the American Baptist Home Mission Societies in partnership with American Baptist Churches USA.

Simon Peter: Flawed by Faithful Disciple

He was not rich or educated but was familiar with hard work. He was quick-tempered and impetuous but possessed a passion that would change the world. He left every- thing to follow his teacher yet struggled with doubt and fear.

Join pastor and author Adam Hamilton in this six-week Lenten journey, and take an in-depth dive into the life, faith, and character of Simon Peter.

Chapters include:

1. The Call of the Fisherman

2. Walking with Jesus in the Storm

3. Bedrock or Stumbling Block?
4. I Will Not Deny You
5. From Cowardice to Courage

6. The Rest of the Story

There is a sign-up sheet in the upper hallway if you would like to participate in the study.

A note to the Ladies of Oak Lawn

On May Day 2019 the Ladies of Eugenias Boutique are planning to open as part of our May Day Celebration. Eugenias has been a great success and we are asking for your sup- port once again. We rely on your generous donations of gently used spring and summer Ladies accessories and jewelry. Our best selling items are scarves, handbags, purses, gloves, belts and jewelry.

Eugenias Boutique is a wonderful fundraiser for our church. 100% of the proceeds go di- rectly into the General Fund. If you have any questions or would like more information, please speak with Marilyn Emery or Lynne Kemp.

Thank you once again for your continued support.
